Camping in Oklahoma

Beavers Bend, outside Hochatown in the far southeast corner, doesn't look like the Oklahoma most people picture. Tall pines crowd the Mountain Fork River, the water runs cold below Broken Bow Dam, and people fish for trout there all year. The park's campgrounds, Dogwood, Elm, Grapevine, sit right in the trees.

Out west, Granite puts you near the granite domes of Quartz Mountain, and Black Kettle National Grassland near Strong City is wide-open prairie. Sulphur is the base for the Chickasaw National Recreation Area, with campgrounds by springs and swimming holes. Fort Cobb and the lakes near Norman and Kaw City round out the list.
