Camping by state
138 places to stay, each with its nearest town and where our information comes from.
Loudonville calls itself the Canoe Capital of Ohio, and on a summer weekend the Mohican River proves it. The campgrounds there rent boats and run shuttles upriver, so you can float back to your site, and Mohican State Park has its own campground in the hemlocks along the gorge.
In the southwest, Caesar Creek near Harveysburg is one of the few places you can legally take home fossils, with a free permit from the visitor center. Up on Lake Erie, Oak Harbor sits by the marshes where birders gather every May for the spring warbler migration. Seneca Lake near Senecaville has campgrounds and RV parks around the water.

Boondocking Score
Coming soon: nomads will rate how easy it is to find a free, tolerated place to sleep here. A score shows once at least five people have reported.
Strongest badge first, then by nearest town. The badge says where our information comes from. A badge is not permission to stay overnight.
1,796 places on the Road Wild map, from trailheads to laundromats.
A listing is a lead, not a promise. These are places we know about, not places we have confirmed you can sleep tonight. Rules, closures, seasons and fees change, and forest roads and passes close for snow. Check signs and local rules before you commit to a night somewhere, and tell us when something is wrong.
