Camping by state
1,108 places to stay, each with its nearest town and where our information comes from.
The best part of Washington is that you can wake up to two different states. On the west side, the Olympic rainforest drips moss over the campgrounds and the Cascadia Marine Trail strings small camps along Puget Sound for anyone arriving by kayak. Drive over the Cascades and by afternoon you're in dry pine country, with the Methow Valley around Winthrop and the river camps up from Leavenworth.
Port Angeles is the easy base for the Olympics, and Marblemount puts you at the edge of the North Cascades. Some of the camps below are hike-in only, so read the details before you count on parking. The North Cascades Highway closes for snow, usually from November into spring.

Boondocking Score
Coming soon: nomads will rate how easy it is to find a free, tolerated place to sleep here. A score shows once at least five people have reported.
Strongest badge first, then by nearest town. The badge says where our information comes from. A badge is not permission to stay overnight.
2,269 places on the Road Wild map, from trailheads to laundromats.
A listing is a lead, not a promise. These are places we know about, not places we have confirmed you can sleep tonight. Rules, closures, seasons and fees change, and forest roads and passes close for snow. Check signs and local rules before you commit to a night somewhere, and tell us when something is wrong.
Maps, pins, photos, check-ins and reviews from nomads who stayed live in Road Wild. It's in private beta.
