Camping by state
51 places to stay, each with its nearest town and where our information comes from.
The Natchez Trace Parkway runs 444 miles from Natchez to Nashville with no billboards, no trucks and a speed limit that makes you slow down. It follows an old path used for centuries, and Natchez State Park near the southern end is a good place to start.
Vicksburg, on the bluffs above the Mississippi, has the Civil War battlefield and a couple of RV parks near the river. In the north, Enid Lake near Pope and the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway near Columbus have Corps campgrounds on the water. Tunica's casinos run their own RV parks if you want hookups and a buffet. About 20 of the state's listings are agency campgrounds.

Boondocking Score
Coming soon: nomads will rate how easy it is to find a free, tolerated place to sleep here. A score shows once at least five people have reported.
Strongest badge first, then by nearest town. The badge says where our information comes from. A badge is not permission to stay overnight.
274 places on the Road Wild map, from trailheads to laundromats.
A listing is a lead, not a promise. These are places we know about, not places we have confirmed you can sleep tonight. Rules, closures, seasons and fees change, and forest roads and passes close for snow. Check signs and local rules before you commit to a night somewhere, and tell us when something is wrong.
