New Iberia is in the heart of Cajun country, and a stay there is mostly about the food: boudin from a gas station counter, crawfish in season, and Avery Island just down the road, where Tabasco has been made for more than 150 years. The RV parks around town make a good base for the bayous.
Most of Louisiana's listings are RV parks along I-10 and I-20. Lake Charles and the towns around it, Sulphur, Westlake and Moss Bluff, have the biggest cluster, near the casinos and the Gulf. Up north, Bossier City and Greenwood sit outside Shreveport. Summers are hot and wet, so spring and fall are the times to come.
